Lee H. Perlman, Chief Executive Officer
Lee H. Perlman is CEO of Happtique. He is also Founder and President of GNYHA Ventures, an innovative leader in healthcare management, and is a national expert in healthcare procurement. GNYHA Ventures operates like an evergreen fund. Its portfolio companies include Happtique, GNYHA Services, Innovatix, Essensa, and Nexera. Total combined commerce through these companies is more than $10 billion, and total revenues exceed $146 million. Its sold companies include THINC to WebMD, GNYHA Streaming Productions Inc. (later acquired by InterCall), HCE, and a partial interest in Innovatix.
Corey Ackerman, President & Chief Operating Officer
Corey Ackerman is responsible for all Happtique operations. A nine-year veteran of GNYHA Ventures, most recently serving as Vice President and Associate General Counsel, he provided legal advice for all GNYHA portfolio companies, including its healthcare group purchasing companies, consulting business, streaming business, and foundation. He also provided support for all aspects of contracting and regulatory compliance, including HIPAA. Prior to joining GNYHA Ventures, he worked on corporate and securities matters as an associate at Mintz Levin for start-up and telecommunications companies, and Gordon Altman for clients that included Icahn Associates and Morgan Stanley.
Ben Chodor, Co-Founder
Ben Chodor is Co-founder of Happtique. A highly sought after mHealth speaker and moderator, Ben hosts mHealth Zone Live, a weekly radio show that showcases the latest on mHealth apps and technology. Launched in 2012, mHealth Zone Live has been listened to almost a million times. Ben also serves as a mentor for Blueprint Health, a startup accelerator based in NYC. As a pioneer in online communications, Ben has spent his 25-year career merging the healthcare, pharmaceutical, and technology fields. Prior to Happtique, he served as Senior Vice President of Global Streaming & Virtual Events at InterCall. He also founded Stream57 LLC and sold the company to InterCall in 2010.
Barbara Green, PhD, Senior Vice President
Barbara Green is responsible for developing Happtique contracts with app developers and publishers. A 25-year GNYHA veteran, she has extensive healthcare contracting experience and, among other positions, served as CEO of GNYHA Streaming Productions Inc., which was sold and ultimately acquired by InterCall.
T. Drew Hickerson, Esq., Assistant General Counsel & Senior Director, Business Development
Drew Hickerson serves as Assistant General Counsel for Happtique, overseeing all of the company’s legal matters. In addition, he is Senior Director of Business Development and is responsible for all Happtique strategic relationships. In this role, he evaluates business development activities in terms of financial opportunity, furtherance of the corporate mission, strategic fit, and organizational capacity. He participates in various public and private industry initiatives that further the company’s policy and advocacy efforts, including the Food and Drug Administration Safety Innovation Act (FDASIA) Workgroup of the Health IT Policy Committee (HITPC), U.S. Department of Commerce NTIA Privacy Multistakeholder Work Group, Clinical Decision Support (CDS) Coalition, and the Application Developers Alliance (Chair of the Medical & Health Working Group). Most recently, Drew served as an in-house attorney at GNYHA Ventures, where he provided legal services to all of its portfolio healthcare businesses. He also held positions at Merrill Lynch, Bloomberg, and the litigation department of Morrison & Foerster. Drew earned his BA in Political Science from Wake Forest University and JD from the University of Miami School of Law.
Leslie Isenegger, Senior Vice President, Marketing & Communications
Leslie Isenegger runs corporate communications, marketing, and digital media for GNYHA Ventures and its affiliates and subsidiaries, including Happtique. Before joining GNYHA Ventures, Leslie oversaw communications for the Greater New York Hospital Association. Prior to that, she served as speechwriter to the Administrator, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and held positions in the CMS Office of Legislation and The Advisory Board Company/National Journal Group. She has an MPP in Health Policy from Georgetown Public Policy Institute, a BA in Economics and Government from Georgetown University, and a Certificate in Public Relations and Marketing from NYU.
Sandra C. Maliszewski, MSN, JD, MBA, Director, Health App Certification Program
Sandy Maliszewski brings over 25 years of healthcare experience to Happtique, having worked as a registered nurse, family nurse practitioner, and licensed midwife in hospitals and private practice. She is a seasoned healthcare attorney with legal expertise in the areas of corporate, regulatory, clinical research, compliance, graduate medical education, medical staff issues, and patient care matters, among others. Sandy also has extensive experience in corporate compliance, research compliance, voluntary disclosures to federal/state agencies, professional disciplinary matters, ethics, and HIPAA program development and management, as well as policy management, risk management, and quality initiatives. In her role at Happtique, Sandy runs the daily operations of the Health App Certification Program, working with our testing partners and advisory groups.
Martin F. Mendiola, MD, MPH, Director, Clinical Program Development
Martin Mendiola is responsible for clinical needs assessments of mHealth technology for the purposes of enhancing the provision of care and patient engagement and satisfaction. He is involved in the clinical implementation of Happtique’s solutions within client health systems while serving as a liaison to its healthcare providers. He has also created the medical, health, and wellness library intellectual property offered to Happtique’s members. Prior to joining Happtique, Martin worked in the direct delivery of care within several hospital systems and through international humanitarian relief efforts, and has conducted extensive clinical research. He earned his MD from the Ponce School of Medicine and MPH in Health Policy from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health.
Aisling Warde Zaccarelli, Vice President, Government Affairs
Aisling Warde Zaccarelli joined GNYHA’s Government Affairs Department in 2005 and transitioned to GNYHA Ventures in 2011. She is responsible for advocating in Washington, D.C., on behalf of all Ventures businesses, with a specific focus on group purchasing organization advocacy. Before joining GNYHA, Aisling worked for the Office of Legislation at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. She earned a BS in Biology from Villanova University and an MPH from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Sahar Zodeh, Senior Director, Operations & Strategy
Sahar Zodeh is responsible for corporate finance matters, initiatives related to the monetization of Happtique products, and developing the organization’s strategy and mission to drive performance measures. Prior to joining Happtique, Sahar worked at Mitsui & Co. USA, dealing with their principle healthcare investment activities in the Americas. Sahar also held positions at The Corporate Executive Board, KPMG, and GNYHA Ventures. Sahar earned a BA in Political Science from UCLA.
